You can design your own stuff

CAD is used to design, develop and optimize products, which can be goods used by end consumers or intermediate goods used in other products. CAD is also extensively used in the design of tools and machinery used in the manufacture of components, and in the drafting Technical drawing and design of all types of buildings, from small residential types (houses) to the largest commercial and industrial structures (hospitals and factories).
CAD is mainly used for detailed engineering of 3D models and/or 2D drawings of physical components, but it is also used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout of products, through strength and dynamic analysis of assemblies to definition of manufacturing methods of components.
CAD has become an especially important technology with benefits, such as lower product development costs and a greatly shortened design cycle, because CAD enables designers to lay out and develop their work on screen, print it out and save it for future editing, saving a lot of time on their drawings.

There are a few software packages that stand out for ease of use for the beginner CAD designer, some offer a trial version of there software wich will allow you to get designing right away. Links to these sites and a brief description of them are below.
Ironcad

This software is a good place to start if you have no experiance in CAD, keep in mind this software is very different than most of the software out there and as a result it will be more difficult to learn to use other software if your first learning takes place in Ironcad, they offer a fully functional 30 day trial version, click here to go to there site
Working model

This software is used to simulate machanical devices and mechanisims, it uses physics to calculate loads friction and weights, for example you could use it to calculate how much your hydraulic cylinder needs to push to be able to lift your engine out of your car, you dont need intimate engineering knowledge, the software does the calculations for you, all you need is the basic measurements and then sketch your lifting arm add a hydraulic cylinder start the simulation and there you have it.
